Emotional Oranges

Not much is known about Emotional Oranges, the LA-based R&B-Pop male/female duo comprised of Azad Naficy and Vali Porter. Described by critics and fans alike as experimental and futuristic, Emotional Oranges are the physical manifestation of Alternative R&B, Soul and Funk. Provocateurs extraordinaire, they have been unanimously lauded everywhere from Complex, Fader, Paper, VIBE, Highsnobiety to Hypebeast, BBC1, Triple J, MTV, and more. The duo burst onto the scene in 2019, immediately gaining a cult following with their debut singles “Motion” and “Personal”. Since then, their beloved trilogy, The Juice Vol. I, Vol. II, and Vol. III has amassed over 400 million streams globally.

Emotional Oranges expanded their sonic universe in June 2021 with The Juicebox, a collaborative mixtape featuring artists like Vince Staples, Channel Tres, Kiana Ledé, and Becky G, further shattering genre boundaries. In Fall 2021, Emotional Oranges took to the stage with The Sad Fruit Tour, which kicked off with stops at Lollapalooza and Life is Beautiful before bringing A+V across 24 U.S. cities. The tour continued into Spring 2022 with 12 European dates, culminating in two unforgettable weekends in the desert at Coachella. That summer, they performed at Pharrell’s Something In The Water in D.C., followed by a co-headlining slot at Korea’s Haus of Wonder Festival, four headline dates in Australia and New Zealand, as well as a stopover in South Africa for a once in a lifetime festival slot at Rocking The Daisies. Spring 2023 saw the launch of the wildly successful Pulp Fiction Tour, with sold-out performances at iconic venues like The Hollywood Palladium, Brooklyn Steel, and House of Blues in Chicago. A+V extended their stay on the road into summer, opening for Halsey in Bahrain and playing five major European festivals. They capped off the season with the release of their project STILL EMO, with features from ZHU, Nonso Amadi, and more. In 2024, Emotional Oranges unveiled their Blended EP featuring Nonso Amadi and embarked on the fruitful STILL EMO Tour across Europe and the UK, selling out venues like Melkweg Max (Amsterdam) and HERE at Outernet (London). Returning home, they dropped two standout summer singles, “Peak” and “HOT OUTSIDE” featuring Anycia. Most recently, they came off a five-show run across Australia and Asia, including a performance at Seoul’s YES24 Live Hall that sold out in 24 hours.

With six project releases under their belt, multiple sold-out world tours, and over 675 million cumulative streams, Emotional Oranges have established themselves as one of the most exciting new acts without ever truly revealing themselves. The juice is certainly worth the squeeze.
