LIGHT UP THE TOWN
First Curry 6 Drop Honors the Fox Theater, One of Oakland’s Most Iconic Landmarks

DEC 11 2018 –

A game changer for Oakland. A shining representation of revitalization and hope. A symbol of past, present and future. Stephen Curry represents all these things in the city and shares them with a landmark unlike any other – the Fox Theater in downtown Oakland.

The Fox Theater represents where The Town has been, and where it’s going. The Oakland marquee adorning the theater has always been its calling card, especially at night – bright neons catch the eye no matter where you are downtown. The Curry 6 Fox Theater colorway recreates this magic with neon colors throughout the outsole, midsole and lacing system, all framed against a black upper.

After 80 years of the highest highs and some frustrating lows, the Fox Theater reopened in 2009 as a multi-functional space housing the Oakland School for the Arts alongside their live music venue. It marked the turning point when Oakland doubled down on itself as a creative hub for the Bay Area.

Little did folks know that another Oakland staple, the Golden State Warriors, was about to be revitalized just a few months later with the drafting of Stephen Curry. In the 10 years since, Stephen has helped guide the Warriors into the upper echelon of basketball royalty, reshaping how basketball is played and understood.

Through it all, the Fox Theater has stood tall and proud, it’s brightly-colored marquee representing everything Oakland stands for as an inclusive community of creators, thinkers and dreamers.

The Curry 6 Fox Theater colorway releases worldwide on UA.com, at UA Brand Houses and at select retail partners for $130 USD on January 4, 2019.
