Oakland School for the Arts is excited to present Heart of Oakland, OSA’s 2019 Spring Benefit. We’ll be celebrating this year’s event on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Historic Fox Theater, located in the Uptown District of downtown Oakland.
Heart of Oakland is an important event for our community to come together and support the creative youth that walk through our doors every day. Experience the talent and heart at OSA during this night of impressive student showcase performances and special guest artists. The evening also includes a pre-performance VIP Party at The Den at the Fox.
Oakland’s legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo and sons Juan and Peter Michael, as well as Rafael Casal, poet, activist, and co-star and writer of the critically-acclaimed film Blindspotting, will be joining us for this very special evening, along with other local guest artists such as Glynn Washington, host and executive producer of Snap Judgement. We will also be honoring OSA’s founder, former California Governor Jerry Brown, for his contributions to arts in education.
Event sponsorship and ticket sales for Heart of Oakland directly support Oakland School for the Arts and OSA’s Step it Up initiative, a diversity and outreach program for students of Oakland Title 1 schools which specifically lack arts education.
OSA has grown stronger with each year thanks to the support of the Oakland community, OSA families, arts advocates, and those who believe in the power of the arts in education. Join us on April 26th to keep the arts beating at OSA for many more years to come.
